When I pulled it out the “float” was full of fuel and and I gabbed it thinking it was the bobber but no, it was a pill bottle and it has at least been in there long enough for the fuel to make it very soft (at least 5 years). It made my day... It was soft like a stress ball. Those bottles are supposed to hard and brittle

Valve head broke off and split the piston, that’s a mix of piston, cylinder wall, and forged rod.

The bottom step rusted out and fell apart as soon as we stepped on it. A bit of angle iron, haphazardly welded in to support it, fell off and onto the ground.
The door’s bottom pivot point is on that step. The door no longer closes properly.

...It’s a school bus.

You gotta respect the way ingenuity of using a pill bottle for a fuel level float.

Now that trailer hitch, on the other hand, is TERRIFYING!!

oh god do I hate the whole “use this can of shit to fill a flat tire.” my favorite from back in the day (when Fix-a-Flat was the most common brand) was going out on a road call to find the numpty tried two cans of Fix-a-Flat. On a tire they’d rolled the bead off of the rim, and tore a hole in the sidewall.

my least favorite was when people would use it, bring it to me for patching, and not tell me they used it. A blast of ammonia-laden yuck in your face is never fun.

I’ve been wanting to include one of those as an “obligatory tire post” for a while now. More people need to see what a nightmare that stuff is, even if the pic doesn’t do justice to the smell.

Sorry to say, it’s s till my father’s go-to product whenever he has a flat ...

Yeah I thought the bottle was pretty clever too, except that the fuel had apparently softened the plastic, releasing it from the float arm. Wonder how long it lasted before it worked itself free. The post isn’t clear as to whether it had just recently slipped off, or if the sender was even the primary reason for pulling the tank.

Slime has its uses: I remember getting a flat on my mountain bike an hour + walk from home, had a pump but no repair kit. I was freaking ecstatic when that green crap appeared in the hole and sealed it just like it promised on the bottle! I’d put it in so long ago I’d actually f orgotten about it until that point.
